Believe it or not but I’ve written more than one thousand articles. That may not sound very impressive, but when you’ve considered the fact that I’ve written them over the course of fewer than two years, it’s a lot of blog posts.
And no, these aren’t short and thin articles either. I’ve cranked out 5 thousand, 10 thousand, and even 15 thousand word articles.
Safe to say, I’ve spent quite a lot of time writing.
Before this, I had a highly limited time writing, and it’s needless to say that when I started out, I was terrible. Of course, when I did start out, I thought I crushed it, but when I look back, I can say that I was far from crushing it with my articles.
But throughout over the journey of writing more than one thousand blog posts, I’ve learned A LOT, and to prevent you from making the same mistakes as I did, I’ll share the top tips and advice that the blogging has taught me, so you can use these tips to become a better writer, faster.
1.Quality over quantity
Now, this may sound like an obvious concept, but many bloggers, including me when I first started, thought that the key to success with blogging is to crank out as many posts as possible. As such, they write as many posts as the can and expect to drive a ton of traffic and results.
Needless to say, this isn’t the case.
Now, with that said, the concept of 1 thousand articles may not sound like a good idea however, if you can write quality and quantity, that’s when you have a winning concept, and this can only be achieved with execution and experience.
As such, especially when starting out, make sure you focus on writing quality blog posts. Forget about trying to write fast, and writing as many articles as possible. Think about it: would you rather be known as the person with 100 average blog posts than the person with 15 incredible ones?
Of course, when you are known for writing 100 amazing blog posts, that’s when you have a winning concept, but getting there takes time.
2.Read other blogs
I cannot emphasize just how much knowledge and valuable information I’ve gotten by reading the blogs of leaders in my industry, and if you’re aspiring to become a better writer, you should too!
By reading other people’s blog, you’ll not only get immense inspiration and get inspired to start writing, but you’ll also be able to extract key information about their writing which you can apply into your own blog posts.
This includes things like blog post formatting, use of words, and how you should create sentences to make them flow seamlessly. And maybe most importantly, to help you convey your points in the best possible way.
When you’re blogging, it’s important that you actually blog.
When you first start out, the idea of writing 1, two, or even 3 blog posts a week may sound completely impossible, but in order to continue to improve as a writer, you need to write regularly. If you take a pause for a week or even a month, you’ll feel some resistance when getting started again – just like when you haven’t exercised for a long time.
By blogging regularly, you’ll make it into a habit, and habits are so much more easy to continue with as opposed to sporadic tasks on your to-do list.
4.Split up your post
This is crucial for producing high-quality blog posts.
Creating a great blog post is not just about the information that you convey, but also how you convey it – both information-wise, but also appearance wise.
Many bloggers are the mistake of just writing… and writing… And then end up with a huge wall of text with no new paragraphs, no subheadings, no bullet points – nothing that splits up the text and makes more appealing.
In order to create appealing blog posts, it needs to be appealing and inviting, and remember that the goal of most blog posts is to help or teach someone something. As such, your goal is to educate and share something, but if you just write a huge wall of text, it is much harder for people to extract key information and key points, thus making your article less valuable.
By splitting up your text, you make it more easily digestible and make it easier for your readers to extract the points you’re trying to make.
Best of all is that when you write blog posts that bring the readers actual value, they’ll be much more likely to return.

5. Write about something you’re passionate about
If I would have written about things that I am not passionate about, I wouldn’t have had the persistence to write more than 1K blog posts. I know, because I’ve also written articles and blog posts about things that I couldn’t care less about. And when I do?
When I write about things I am not genuinely passionate about, the article tends to take 10 times more time since I constantly have to check facts, find information, and do research. When I write something I am passionate in, I write from my own experiences and my own knowledge.
Most importantly is that when you write about things you’re not passionate about, it will shine through. Just like it will when you write about something you are passionate about. Therefore, make sure that before you start blogging, you ask yourself ”What am I passionate about?”, and then take it from there.
